It was both a huge success for the City of Mandaluyong, known to be the political quarter of a known stalwart Atty. Benhur Abalos, Sr. and the Duterte Team for sharing visions alike: “Gawa, hindi salita”. This has bannered in street corners like those small tarpaulins announcing Mayor Duterte’s coming to their place.
Mayor Duterte was invited by the officers of the alumni of Mandaluyong High School, on the occasion of their 38th Founding Anniversary. Mr. Jake Abejar, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, who introduced Duterte said, in the shortlists of names for their guest speaker, Mayor Duterte outvoted the rest in terms of preference. One, he said, was even a senator of the republic. For his turn, the senior Abalos addressed the crowd like a Duterte in Davao. He made it more obvious the support he will throw to Duterte when he said: Sinamahan nyo ako sa Edsa…ngayon kung makapagpasya na si Mayor Duterte, sana samahan nyo pa rin ako”, with the crowd in deafening applause.

Mayor Duterte who talked about his advocacy on federalism held the crowd for an hour, seemingly in equal proportion of time he spent in photo sessions after his speech.
Duterte is known for being a doer, a legend action man in Philippine politics. Duterte in one senate hearing said, “The trouble with us in government is that we talk too much, act too slow and do too little”, better elaborated in the theme: “Gawa, hindi salita”.
