Wattpad meet up at Metropolis Suites Davao

Great stories bring people together! Yes it is... But have you heard about wattpad? Actually I am not that knowledgeable too, not until I met this group of teens organizing a Wattpad meet up event this December. And for the benefit of understanding this discovered "word", I guess it's my responsibility too to do some research just to find out what this new computer term is all about.

What Wikipedia Says about wattpad? Wattpad is a writing community in which users are able to post articles, stories, fan fiction, and poems about anything either online or through the Wattpad app. The content includes work by undiscovered and published writers. Users are able to comment and like stories or join groups associated with the website. Around half of the users are U.S. based; other users come from the U.K., Canada, the Philippines, Australia, United Arab Emirates and other countries. As of this writing, it's about 8 years already since it originated in 2006, as the result of a collaboration between Allen Lau and Ivan Yuen.

Here in the Philippines, Wattpad signed a contract last March this year with Pop Fiction, an imprint of Summit Media, to print Filipino Wattpad stories. In which later have been adapted into "teleseryes". An example of this was TV5's Wattpad Presents, a series of Wattpad stories turned into TV dramas. This project was in partnership with Wattpad and Life is Beautiful Publishing Company. So I guess it's getting popular already and I think I am just too late to know it.

This coming December 13, 2014; A bunch of Wattpad Enthusiasts will be gathered in Metropolis Suites Davao.  Inviting all wattys in the region to come and join with this wattpad meet up event. It's purpose is to provide assistance to wattpadders with motivation to their writing passion. Sharing of thoughts on how wattpad changed their lives.

Changed their Lives perhaps a sort of yes, because WATTPAD is a Storytelling platform Redefining the reading industry. Considered to be a place to discover and share stories: it is a social platform that connects people through words. It builds a community that spans borders, interests, and languages. And what is good about it is that with Wattpad, anyone can read or write on any device: phone, tablet, or computer.

According to the event organizer, Ms. Eunice Andrade, the event will have activities like Games, wattpad goodies, photobooth and selfies everywhere. It will be a total socializing event aside of getting connected personally with the local wattpad community, and of course amazing prizes and surprises awaits for the attendees. To be part of this event, an Admission Fee is required amounting to Php.150 that will cover snacks and some freebies. There will be a display of wattpad books with autograph from authors and a souvenir bookmark. Also available will be a limited edition wattpad statement shirt that can be
bought separately with a very reasonable price.
